When preschoolers wake up too early

When preschoolers play basketball

ZZ just finished "basketball season."

We use that term lightly because it's really just four 45-minute "practices"
with one 30-minute game.

None-the-less, it was worth every bit of that $35.

This picture alone is worth it.

Lots of videos today!

They are only a couple seconds and we highly recommend them if not solely for a good chuckle.

I mean, you haven't lived until you've seen preschoolers play basketball.

This was Day One. We have a lot of work ahead of us.

This is what most practices looked like.
Hello?! Pay attention!
You look like a couple of 4-year-olds out there.

Okay. He's getting the whole "dribbling" thing down.
And when I say down, I mean way down low.
It's almost a talent in itself.

One thing he has going for him - he has a great shot.
We do have two basketball hoops at home. It's just that our basketballs don't have enough air to bounce, so we can only shoot hoops.

GAME DAY!!

Zac is number 7.

Navy Blue VS Royal Blue.

(Really? I mean. Really?)

The kid has improved! There is hope!

Check it out! He's finally getting the whole dribbling thing!
(every time I watch this, I find my head bobbing... anyone else?)

Gotta love the layup.
And their passing game, so gentle yet effective.

When one of your best friends is on the team - it's all good.
Zac and Jake - it's like Graham and Crabtree.

Now.
Before we show a video of the actual game... a few things that might differ from your traditional view of basketball.
1. There are two balls.
2. There are no rules.
3. It's really just mass chaos.

Zac was a HUSTLER.
This kid had a ball the whole time. He was rebounding, stealing, shooting, passing. We thought we had video'd more, but we were laughing so hard, I guess we forgot.

He has the determination, the drive, the focus, the I-want-it-now attitude that you can really only find in an only child.

Basically, Zac would steal the ball from someone, run all the way around the back of the group. Mentally come up with a game plan to get back to the hoop. And he would either go in for a layup (again... using terms very loosely here), or would pass to Jake.

And no, he would not pass to anyone else.

Big difference from the Soccer Drama of 2007.

And to end things off in true Zachariah-fashion... the Red Raider dance. Feel free to ignore where exactly he points his "guns" and just take a moment to appreciate his fly dancing skillz.

Hey! Who was that NBA star in the background?
Man, this kid is lucky.

There is still hope...

Hey look! We have a visitor.

Hello nice man.

What is that?

You would like to lend your honed skills to our (formerly known as a) bathroom?

You can finish in one week?

And you will bring your own tools?

And work like a machine from 8-6, even eating your lunch in this little hole we have so neglected for 4 months?

And all we will have to do is purchase and then fit seemingly impossible-to-fit items into our car?

Um. Let me check....

WHEN CAN YOU START?

Trick or Treat

Trick-or-Treat!

Spiderman is ready for his candy! Or he will shoot you with his web!!

We had lots of fun trick-or-treating with Z. We went a little early this year, but our neighbors enjoyed seeing the little guy.

He thought this pumpkin was terribly clever.

Trick-or-treating with your parents is fun.
Except for when they know all the neighbors
and you are stuck waiting for the grown-up conversations to be
O-V-E-R.

We now present....
The I'm-bored-let's-get-out-of-here-to-get-some-more-candy DANCE.

Thank you. Thank you very much.

Uh-oh. Is Spiderman getting tired?
Early trick-or-treating is a must
for a little guy who goes to bed at 7.

We know that look.

And......

He's out.

(WHAT?! Of course we most certainly did NOT steal any of this precious little boy's candy while he slept! We would never ever do that.)

(unless he has a ridiculous amount of Smarties. and kit kats.)

(I don't even think he KNEW he had peanut butter cups.)

(Hello? Do you want to pay those dental bills? We are doing a SERVICE to him. He doesn't even like to brush his teeth.

Eagle Ranch

We went out to Eagle Ranch for the day to help move some large items.
We worked from an itemized to-do list on an easel by the front door.

Dad:
"Secure the couch as we drive from the storage buildings to the house"

Yes Sir.

This window is like a painting.

This is Isabella. The girls squealed and squealed when she was found.

Who gets to have a fridge this big? No fair!
