January!

Maybe this will be the year I get more consistent with this old blog. :)

Our new year is starting out kind of perfect. I asked Brian tonight, "Is this real life?"  We've just had several reminders lately about how God redeems. My word for this year is hope. I'm going to work on that.

Our fam is hitting a sweet spot. At this moment, the kids have been playing upstairs by themselves for so long, that we are already an hour past their bedtime. And we don't care. ;)  We have had a really great Christmas break and are in terrible, but very fun, habits.

Today we broke out the Easy-Bake oven. SG "cooked" some pink "sugar cookies" that turned out like rubbery play-doh. And all three kids devoured the four tiny blobs. And loved it.

Then I took Z to a birthday party with 12 boys that would start at a karate studio and end in a huge slumber party where each boy brought his electronic device with which he play Minecraft. As I drove off, the wrestling was in full swing. Bless it.

We took the little kids on a long walk because it was gorgeous out and will be 19* tomorrow because TEXAS.

And then I had lots of handfuls of goldfish while making a very healthy dinner because I have no self control around those things and why do I buy them.  Ugh.

I'm going to be better about updating this blog. I am. And with pictures.  And when I print these blogs out someday and my kids ask about the two year hiatus, I will just say, You. You happened. And you were worth all my free time. And you will never know what it was like, because when you have kids, daddy and I will be offering so much help, you will have to kick us out.

The little kids have just told us that they brushed their own teeth.  Is this for real?  :)

Sweet big brother

Sometimes at night, Zach will rock Asher to sleep.

Is there a sweeter sight than this?  Melts. My. Heart.

Swim party

Zach had a Welcome to Summer Pool Party with his 2nd grade buddies. Sooo cuuuute. He has a great group of guys with great families. I love my childhood experience as a military kid, but I really am enjoying that my kids will grow up with a solid group of kids from now until forever. It's sometimes weird for me to adjust to *not* moving ever again, but I love it for my kids. <3

Anyways, these boys totally broke our brand new inflatable slide, but it was worth it. They were adorable and rough and crazy and wild and funny and awesome. They loved dancing to gangnam style and (of course) the minecraft version. Brian got in and threw them around, which they LOVED. And it was just really really fun. :)

It's like I'm pioneer woman.

I am just seeing these. I'm guessing ZZ took them?  Maybe SG?  Anyways, I'm all domestic and cooking and actually wearing real clothes and looking like I do this all the time. My hair even looks clean.

So, how nice that it's documented. I mean, this is totally me three times a day, right?  ;)

First family swim of the summer

We love our pool soooo much. Seriously cannot imagine life without it!

This was our first official family swim of the summer. (Zach is in the pool year round of course!)  SG wasn't too comfortable swimming on her own just yet, so she kept on the puddle jumpers. And Ash didn't want to get in the water, so he happily played in the grass with toys.

Paper hats

Zach went through a stage of making everyone paper hats. It's moments like this where I treasure my time at home with my babies!
