We didn't know anything about the doctor until this week when I spoke to three other friends who also took their children to him. Then when we googled his address, we found out more about him. Apparently, he is a super great doctor. We heard stories of his not-so-great bedside manner, but that he was still an awesome doctor.
As with most doctors who see Selah Grace, he was immediately intrigued by the conradi-hunermann. He had never heard of it before, much less seen it. And he spent a lot of time researching it while we were there. Fortunately/unfortunately, he brought out a medical textbook to let us read more about it. But it's never fun to read about.
And POOR POOR Selah Grace!!!
First, she had her pupils dilated. Not fun, but manageable. He did a very thorough check for cataracts - and found nothing!! YIPPEE!!!!
Then he needed to check the pressure on her eyes for any glaucoma issues. This meant that they had to press the tool ONTO her eyeball. :( She did not like this. Neither did we!
Then the tool wasn't working correctly. Mostly because she got my tiny little beady eyes, that shrink up even more after crying.
So, they had to get a metal eye-opening clamp to slip under the top and bottom eyelid and stretched them WIDE open so they could see her entire eyeball.
Oh, she screamed. And screamed. And inside I was screaming, too! But Brian and I held her down and told her to be brave.
Now her little eyes are very swollen and beat up looking. Bless her little heart. But the great news is that everything looks great so far.
We now know that cataracts occur in 2/3 of conradi-hunerman kids, so we will be back in 3 months to check her again.
I dropped Brian off at work and we are finally home. I have a terrible headache from the stress of the morning! Praying that Brian's Monday is going well for him.
Onto the pictures. :)
I don't have the energy to post all the ones I wanted to. But we went to a super fun birthday party yesterday that I have to include. It was at a gymnastics place. And we've been to one before, but the parents aren't allowed on the equipment. However - at this place, we were!! So, Michelle, Brian, and I didn't hesitate to jump in! (actually, we had to make sure our babies were all taken care of first...haha)
Here's ZZ with the birthday boy

The dads

The moms

Zac got to swing on this super fun swing!!

Mommy got to flip around

Brian tried the trampoline, too

We all had fun in the pit

Until Brian lost his wedding ring in there! We found it. :)
And one more... Zac was putting his gift together for his friend, and wrote this on the envelope:

Get it?
Yoos the fors!
ROFL!! I was hysterical, I thought this was SOOOO funny. No one laughed as hard as me... maybe it's just something a mommy thinks is funny? I mean - come on - that is just SO stinkin CUTE!!
More later... I've got 2 starvin kiddos here.

What encouraging news from the doctor! But oh, that was so hard to read...I can't imagine how hard it must have been watching them mess with her eyes! Poor Selah! What a FUN party! And yes, the card WAS hysterical! Soooo cute!
A. Poor Selah Grace, but B. Praise the Lord for healthy eyes!!!!!
We had a ton of fun...I LOVE the pic of us jumping!! I wish we could do things like that more often!!
SO sorry about the eye visit, but thankful that everything is good so far! I know how squirmy I am for the glaucoma thing, can't imagine having to get an INFANT to do it!
Looks like you had fun at the party!
P.S.
Being a Boy Genius is no laughing matter.
